Orlando Poster Design
For this project, I was tasked with creating a poster design for a classic novel. I chose Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel Orlando, as I was interested in the subversive exploration on gender within it.
The protagonist, Orlando, is a seemingly immortal being born in the Elizabethan era who changes gender as they pass through time.
I aimed to explore the multiple identities and gender fluidity of the protagonist, illustrating this by amalgamating images of the character in various time periods and guises into one figure. I also explored the passing of time through Orlando's sprawling house, the only constant other than Orlando in the book.
Collage, pen and ink and digital.
